Keith McIntosh - PLATO Testing
Using his 20 years of experience in software testing in New Brunswick, Keith McIntosh is setting an ambitious course innovating the way we look software testing in Canada. Co-CEO and founder of PQA Testing, he began creating PLATO Testing, an Indigenous software testing company.
He recognized that the growing need for ITC workers across the country and the desire for onshore work in Canada could be an opportunity to address the growing population of young Indigenous peoples and their higher rates of unemployment. By partnering PQA with PLATO to provide course instruction and support, the Aboriginal Software Testing Training Course was started in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
After the successful completion of the course, students begin a paid internship, followed by employment with PLATO Testing. Today the Software Testing Training program is a certificate program with the Collège Communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB). It has been run in Fredericton, Miramichi (NB) and Vancouver (BC).
With over 30 employees in New Brunswick, and 50 across the country, it has a target of over 250 Indigenous software testers across Canada by 2018.
