Linda Dalpé - L'APOMME
A physician by training, Linda left clinical practice in 2014. Far from abandoning the health field, she now works toward improving the health of New Brunswickers by going to the source of the problem.
By becoming aware of the food choices offered at her children’s school, Linda decided to get involved in the cafeteria committee. In challenging the meals offered, she got the school’s permission to review the menu with the help of a dietitian. That was the nucleus of the idea for L’APOMME.
Based on the networks serving school cafeterias elsewhere in New Brunswick and Quebec, L’APOMME is a non-profit social economy enterprise intended to manage meals for educational institutions in the Acadian Peninsula. In addition to offering healthy choices in compliance with Policy 711 (Healthier Foods and Nutrition in Public Schools), L’APOMME features products from local farmers. After a few years in a development phase, the project is now ready for implementation.
